SHANGHAI Urban Fabrics City Map: PRINT

SHANGHAI, China.

This modern ancient city is a deep layer cake of city plans, streets and lanes forged by carts and worn by millions of bicycles alongside modern super-highways. The map-drawing includes the Oriental Pearl Tower in the northwest patch of land where the river turns sharply as well as Century Park in the southeast corner. The Huangpu River snakes through the map-drawing.

This is a PRINT. My hand-drawn map lines are turned white over my "Urban Fabric” painting - a layering of many hand-painted and drawn marks in watercolor, handmade pigment and ink.

COAL: Striking black and white brush marks and ink lines, with brown ochre pigment.

ROCK: Neutral tones of beige and grey with a touch of blush.

EARTH: Earthy pinks, gold, rich warm browns in brush strokes with graphite marks.

RIVER: Moody blue-greens with graphite and my handmade ochre pigment.

WAVES: Deep watery blues with wavy graphite lines.

GRASS: Wispy strokes evoke blades of grass, with pink and gold interwoven.

Prints available in three paper options:

Matte Coated Archival - Easily fits into frame of same dimensions, no mat needed.

Textured Watercolor Paper, straight cut edge - Easily fits into frame of same dimensions, no mat needed.

Textured Watercolor Paper, deckled edge - Looks great float-mounted in frame! (Not available in 17” x 20”)

Epson archival papers / Epson Professional high-quality inkjet printer / Archival inks

8" x 10", 11" x 14" and 16" x 20" are the best print sizes to purchase if you'd like to find a frame "off the shelf" instead of custom framing. Print have a border so no mat is required - just pop it in the frame of the same size and hang!

If you'd prefer a square print, just purchase the size that matches the width you'd like, leave a note at checkout to make it square and I will make it square! If my print widths available in menu do not match your preference, send me a note with an alternate size. I can print from 5" x 5" to 17" x 17" - Thanks!
