A ski resort in the German Alps is at the confluence of two mountains - and that is a rich place to explore contrast and texture!
The MOUNTAINS Collection, and this piece, is an exploration of brush + line, using the metaphorical form of MOUNTAIN to see how the marks of paintbrush and pen or pencil, with their contrasting textures, can work together to model the tactile surfaces of land.
Deep blues, blacks and greys explore the rugged topography of the mountain on the right while the mountain on the left displays its texture in fine tuned, hatched black ink lines. The contrast is echoed but flipped in the valley as fields of lines on right and watercolor rays on left radiate from the confluence of mountains.
