PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania.

Original Watercolor City Blocks Map. With each block painted by hand, an original watercolor of Philadelphia's historic city plan is just stunning on the wall of your office, business or home, or a wonderful wedding or anniversary gift to be treasured. (This painting is discounted $100.00 because I accidentally painted the river in one small section in the upper left! I tried to remove the paint but the paper still bears a grey scar there. Wabi Sabi!)

I love the complexity and density of historic cities! It's fascinating to roam with your eye over the streets of Philly, abstracted into a figure/ground, or block, plan. The way all the different blocks reconcile themselves to each other, against the rivers' edges...

The map centers on the original William Penn plan, including City Hall and the first four squares, Rittenhouse, Logan, Washington and Franklin. The map stretches north to Jefferson Street and south to about Morris Street. The city center is cradled between the great Delaware River with its docks and the scenic Schuykill. The map is rotated to show off Penn's grid in straight parallel and perpendicular streets and squares.

*This is the original Philadelphia watercolor block painting created in February 2019, the process posted via instagram/social media. The watercolor is a variegated black.

Original Watercolor on thick 140gsm watercolor paper, signed & dated by me.
