I love the complexity and density of historic cities! It's fascinating to roam with your eye over the core of Boston with its rivers and docks, abstracted into a figure/ground, or block, plan. The map-drawing centers on the heart of Boston on the Shawmut Peninsula, surrounded by the Massachusetts Bay and the Charles River and extends to Bunker Hill and Charlestown and portions of East Boston, Seaport District and the Back Bay. The iconic pathways of Boston Common and Boston Public Garden, as well as pedestrian path around City Hall and Faneuil Hall are drawn and the gnarly web of highways has been modified to reflect the "Big Dig", showing the tunneled roads in color, as opposed to white.
